Mazda Engineers Testing 4x4 Coversions

Mazda Engineers Testing 4×4 Coversions

You could say that we pioneered the 4×4 van conversion industry. In 1973, a group approached the owner of Advanced Four Wheel Drive systems about converting 2WD mini-trucks to four wheel drive. At the time, four wheel drive mini-trucks were not available from the factory. That initial contact eventually snowballed into a business that was converting over 3,000 trucks every year for various manufacturers like Toyota, Ford, and Datsun until 1982 when the first factory truck finally became available.

The market demand for four wheel drive vehicles grew and Advanced Four Wheel Drive began converting other factory vehicles to four wheel drive as early as 1975. Some of these vehicles included the Ford Superduty (F450), GM Astro Van, and all vehicles based on the Ford, GM, and Dodge van Chassis.

The four wheel drive market is continually shifting, and today, Advnaced Four Wheel drive is equipped to convert more types of vehicles to 4×4 than any other converter in the world. Our primary focus is on Ford, GM and Nissan van chassis based vehicles which include buses, shuttle buses, camper vans, ambulances, RVs, motorhomes and more. With a larger cargo and passenger carrying capacity than any other passenger vehicle on the market, a 4×4 van is truly the ultimate SUV.
